DMS Productions Interview

DMS

The Interview:

Was up bro I see you providing some hot tracks for artist?

(DMS) Yea, all the tracks I put up 4 sale are top quality sound and have a different kind of touch to them that give each track it’s own personality, I guess you could say…

What is DMS Productions and how long have you been producing?

(DMS)  DMS stands 4 DopeMasterSmoke, it’s basically my brand, like Nike or Polo. I’ve been producing beats 4 about 6 yrs now, but have been a musician (guitar, drums, etc) since I was in elementary. I’ve recorded a few albums both hip-hop and reggae, I play in a local band South Side Dub, we’ve been killing the local scene doing shows all over the FLA.

Who are some of the artist have you worked with?

(DMS)  Mostly artists your readers haven’t heard of (yet), but rite now I got some one from Block Burna Ent. Hitting me up 4 a single for 21 Reese’s new record.

If you had the opportunity to work with any one you wanted who would that person be?

(DMS)  Probably DJ Paul & Juicy J of Hypnotize Minds (3-6 mafia), if you listen 2 my tracks, its plain as day my inspiration mainly comes from their older work.

What are some of your main goals for DMS Productions?

(DMS)  Get my beats out there on a mainstream level, there are a lot of great dudes on top rite now but a goal that’s more in sight is to stack some paper for my hard work on these tracks, it used to be a hobby but I’d be down to make some profits too.

When you go to make a beat or produce a record what’s usually your process?

(DMS)  It’s always different man, sometimes I’ll start messing wit samples till I get a cool pattern and form the drums and everything else around that. Or sometimes it’s the drums 1st then the synths, guitar tracks, etc. come after.

The reason why I ask is because the beat “Soldier Track” has a laid back feel to it. But the track is still riding where an artist can really rip it. Describe the type of beats you like to make?

(DMS)   I really like making all types, “Soldier Track” is a prime example of some of my more outside-the-box kind of work. But I love making anything that rides wit some heavy bass, it has to cause some kind of vibe ya know?

So where are you trying to go now with you producing career? Are you trying to be a in house producer for a successful label?

(DMS) That would be cool wit me, I can work protools pretty well so I could be an asset to any studio that’s looking for another head to put in the mix, sometimes the best productions come about between more than 1 producer.

DMS stay focus homie I know one day a major artist will be on your beats! Any shout outs you would like to give?

(DMS)  Thanks brotha I appreciate it! Shout out 2 all my clients, Go Getta Ent, Street Pharmacy, J-Town, South Side Dub, all of PBC and all my friends and fams that got my back! Voodoo 2 any haters!!!
